24th Hour

24th Hour

It has been eight months since I arrived here at Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory to work as one of the Dispatch personnel for the Fire and Emergency Services. At first, things are kinda new to me. I have to get familiar with the protocols, SOP's and technology used. I have worked for a similar local agency back home then, but as soon as I recall the procedures, I got used to the new system in no time.

Air Algerie Plane Broke Up On Impact, Say Investigators

Paris (AFP) - An Air Algerie flight that crashed in Mali killing all 116 people on board broke up on impact after losing air speed and banking sharply, investigators said on Thursday.

Presenting the initial findings of a probe into the July 24 tragedy, Remi Jouty, the head of France's Bureau of Investigations and Analyses (BEA) air safety agency, also told reporters that the cockpit voice recording was currently unusable.

Air Algerie Flight AH5017 Disappears From Radar


An Air Algerie Flight AH5017 traveling from Burkina Faso to Algiers with 110 passengers and six crew members on board was reported missing and disappeared from radar. It was confirmed Friday that passenger plane crashed in a desolate region of restive northern Mali; Authorities lost contact to the MD83 plane 50 minutes after jet took off from Burkina Faso bound for Algiers.

TransAsia Airways Flight GE222 Crash Landing In Taiwan

Plane crashes in emergency landing, killing 47 people, injuring 11. The TransAsia Airways F light GE222, a twin-engine turboprop ATR 72 was reportedly trying to make an emergency landing.

The flight took off from Kaohsiung Siaogang Airport in Taiwan at about 5 p.m. local time and was flying to Penghu’s Magong Airport, according to the South China Morning Post. The plane reportedly crashed into residential buildings on its way down.

Malaysia Airlines Plane Crash Who Did It

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine with 298 people on board. Oe big looming question remains, whose responsible for shooting down the plane?

The flight departed Amsterdam Airport Schiphol at 12:14 p.m. local time on July 17. It was on a path for Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia, where it was due to land 11 hours and 45 minutes later. It never arrived.

Malaysia Airlines Crash: What Happened

A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 plane carrying 298 people from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down in Ukraine near the country's border with Russia.

*The number of people on the plane has been updated to 298 since the publishing of this video.

"It looks like it might be a terrible tragedy," President Obama said of the crash, while adding that the U.S. is trying to determine whether there were any Americans onboard the plane.
