Year-End Post 2014

As we celebrate the birth of Christ, may each and everyone of you find Blessings of Peace and Happiness, not in material things or earthly pleasures but in the comfort of our families, friends, co-workers and those who are near and far but close to our hearts.

Exposure

Teaching and sharing our God given knowledge, skills and talents may sometimes be challenging specially when most of your audience is older than you and you might want to consider things about them. This is something I'm not good at nor would like to do regularly.

Eating The Young

What's the best way to teach people about skills, values, knowledge, self dicipline and responsibility than at a young age. But its a bit different in teaching adults from that of the kids. Yes, most of us maybe raised by loving parents, schooled in universities, well educated and has a degree in the field of our choice. That having been said, would anyone care to accept things he/she finds new and outside of the norm one has been used to. From rules to interaction with the things and people around you to anything that might test your knowledge, values and capabilities as a human, as a professional and as an individual.

Non-permissive Environment

Every day we encounter a lot of challenges and difficulties in life, whether be it private or public. To name a few, problems at work, with peers, organization, financials and many more. But nothing compared to an instance where we think we hit a wall hard and end up with a broken spirit.

True Believers

First of all, this has nothing to do with religion but only the faith among brothers. Yes, I am not religous but I do believe in a higher power, the Almighty. This is not about me but about my team, my friends, my brothers.

Stress

Nothing is more fulfilling in a volunteer’s experience other than successfully executing and completing a task and or a mission with the most of positive result and the prevention of the loss of human life. But as these experience and success piles up in a volunteer’s record of effectiveness, so as the stress that takes its toll in each volunteer individually. I say individually because of what I notice, it affects us in different aspects of our everyday life, whether it be during our volunteer hours or even as an individual.

First Responder

It was a lazy afternoon, I can't recall much of the date but it was a week after Baguio City and its neighboring provinces were devastated by Typhoon Cosme. We just finished a week of clearing operations around the city and we were back in the base where most of us probably chill or should I say "tambay" since there's not much activity during that day. As one of the volunteers, we tried to make our selves busy with reports and the like about our clearing operations and the incident reported and responded by my team.

Here are some of the would be volunteers trained in various disciplines. But let's face the fact that volunteers are not made, it is a calling to oneself to serve others without expecting anything in return. A thank you would be nice and enough. Being a volunteer starts within one's self and just developed through training though it does not happen overtime. Doing things that real volunteers do but not having the stomach and heart for it is just wrong. Whatever personal agendas hidden in volunteer service will never materialize unless one deserves so. Many are called, few are chosen, fewer still remain.
