Lost Somewhere In The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

People Lost in the Cause of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Who haven't heard about the "Ice Bucket Challenge?" Its all over the news and has become a tide that swept the social media with people from the famous to the not so, dousing themselves with buckets of ice water on video, posting that video to social media, then nominating others to do the same, all in an effort to raise ALS awareness. People can either accept the challenge or make a donation to an ALS Charity of their choice, or do both.

This has become a creative way to spread ALS awareness via social media and getting so many people involved in spreading the word about ALS worldwide. According to Forbes, The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Has Raised $100M. It Only Took 1 Month.

But not all of the people who participated in this charity and awareness campaign knows the significance of this challenege. Yes, the internet is flooded with videos showing people dousing themselves with buckets of ice water, but do they know why or what's the purpose? The later part of the ALS campaign has become rather a fad than what it was of its original aim or purpose. I've seen people accepting the challenege, doing it but not knowing what its purpose or why do they do it or whom do they do it for and didn't bother to find out. People nowadays get to do things and go with the flow before asking why. As the campaign winds down, it has become rather a dare fad popular among teens and adults, and it ends there. Worst, some brought the campaign to an extreme level where the simple dousing of buckets of ice water was coupled with stunts that can be dangerous for others and for themselves like combining the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge with the FIRE CHALLENGE, some even performed the challenge while on a plane (the pilot). Google it yourself and you'll be surprised that some people have taken the challenge to a whole new level, a dangerous one.

We'll, not to ruin other people's joy and source of fun but this is just my opinion just as you are entitled to yours.
