Leap Of Faith

Leap Of Faith

A leap of faith, in its most commonly used meaning, is the act of believing in or accepting something intangible or unprovable, or without empirical evidence. It is an act commonly associated with performing and or executing a planned task with no clear result but expects or hopes for the outcome to be in favor of the person who performs the act. It is also an act commonly associated with religious belief as many religions consider faith to be an essential element of piety. But let's not get into the aspect of religion since faith equals many religions and beliefs.

There are lots of stories and articles attributed to when and where the phrase was coined, but let's not get into history. Let us focus more on the understanding of phrase and its meaning. Clearly, each and every one could have different understanding regarding the phrase but all can agree to a simple explanation by breaking down the phrase and focus on the words that makes the phrase.

A lot of dictionaries both print and online can give you the meaning of the words on the phrase. But let's look into a deeper understanding to those words for us to fully comprehend the meaning of the phrase, not literally but logically.

Leap Of Faith

LEAP
  • Jumping to the unknown. This is not a suicide. Taking the risk is important with full understanding that the outcome may or may not favor one's cause. Understanding the risk factor helps in the decision making if one should or should not push through in committing the act. Weighing the possible results and consequences can help ease the burden in one's mind before committing. Don't jump literally from a height because you may or may not land on your foot and even so you might get injured. Note that any image you see on the internet or print media pertaining to the phrase does not mean you should do the same. You are reading this because you are mentally capable and not an intellectual idiot.

OF
  • Don't be rude, you're too intelligent not to understand the word. ☺

FAITH
  • Belief to one's cause, abilities and the end result. I hate to break it up but one can only HOPE that the outcome is in favor to the latter’s cause.

Leap Of Faith
  • Do or don't, there is no trying and in doing so one must remember that if he/she is not willing to give up something, then that person's has already lost. Playing safe might not only prevent one from failure, but also prevent one's progress.

What is your Leap Of Faith? Before you answer the question, always remember to Look Before You Leap.☺
